U-Save Car & Truck Rental Renter Policies

Each renter must meet the driver requirements below, and provide a deposit on a major credit card in the renter's name. You will need your driver's license, insurance card, and major credit card with you at time of rental. All documents must be valid for the entire rental period; extensions will not be granted if any of these expires.

Driver Requirements

Each driver must meet the following criteria:

• At least 21 years old; drivers 21-25 years are charged an under age driver fee.
• Holds a driver's license that is valid for the entire rental period
• Has a current full coverage auto insurance policy that is valid for the entire rental period

Additional Drivers

All additional drivers must meet the driver requirements described above, and they need to be added to the agreement as authorized drivers at the rental counter. Each must provide a driver's license and insurance card at that time. There is a daily fee of $5.00 per additional driver. Additional drivers may not be added over the phone. The renter's spouse is included as an authorized driver, provided they meet the driver requirements.

Accepted Forms of Payment

We accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express. Debit and check cards are not acceptable for deposits. 

Deposits

Standard rental cars will be charged the estimated total of the rental or $200.00 whichever is greater. This amount is charged to your major credit card at the time of rental. Any remaining balance is refunded to the original credit card upon final check-in of the rental vehicle.

Rental Calendar

Daily rental rates are based on a 24-hour rental day starting at the time of rental. We provide for a 1-hour grace period; if the vehicle is returned after the grace period, an hourly charge will be charged up to 3 hours, after that an additional day of rental charge will accrue. The minimum charge is one day, plus mileage if applicable. Rental periods beginning on Saturdays require a 2-day minimum charge (no Sunday returns). Month-long rentals are renewed at 29 days.

Cancellations

We work hard to keep our fleet ready and to provide as many rentals as possible to our customers. At this time, U-Save Car & Truck Rental  does not charge cancellation fees. However, we do ask that you cancel your reservation as soon as possible so that we can open your spot for another customer.

After-Hours and Sunday Return

If the return is after hours or any time on Sundays, be sure to replace the fuel, park in front of the service drive, and lock the doors. All service departments have after-hours key drops near the entrance; you must return the keys here. The rental agreement remains open until a U-Save Car & Truck Rental employee checks in the vehicle upon open of business the next business day, and you will be billed until that time.

Mileage

All vehicles have a mileage limit of 200 miles per day, unless otherwise discussed with the rental agent. If you drive anything over the specified mileage limit, you will be charged an additional $0.20 per mile.

Travel Limitations

Driving is restricted to the contiguous United States. U-Save Car & Truck Rental vehicles may not go into Canada or Mexico.

Fuel

We ask that you return the vehicle with the same fuel level at which it was received.  If the fuel level is below what it was at pickup, you will be charged $3.75 per gallon. 

Smoking and Pets

All U-Save Car & Truck Rental vehicles are strictly non-smoking, and animals are not allowed in the vehicles. Rentals should be returned in a similar state as when rented. Violation of this policy will result in a $200.00 cleaning fee.

Vehicle Damage

At this time, U-Save Car & Truck Rental does not sell Loss Damage Waivers or Personal Accident Insurance. You must report accidents, theft, and damage as soon as is practicable. The renter and any additional drivers are absolutely liable for any loss or damage to the rental vehicle, even if someone else caused it or the cause is unknown, whether due to theft, fire, hail, flood, collision, vandalism, or any other cause, subject to limitations imposed by the law. The rental agent will note a change in condition upon check-in, and the renter will be asked to sign a report. As a courtesy we can work directly with your auto insurance company.

Restrictions

U-Save Car & Truck Rental vehicles may not be used:

1. by anyone who is not an authorized driver or not licensed to drive, or by anyone whose driver's license is suspended;
2. by anyone under the influence of alcohol, prescription or non-prescription drugs;
3. by anyone who obtained the vehicle or extended the rental period by giving us false, fraudulent or misleading information;
4. under circumstances that could be properly charged as a crime other than a minor traffic violation;
5. to push or tow anything;
6. in a race or speed contest, or in an otherwise unsafe manner;
7. to teach anyone to drive;
8. outside the United States or outside the geographic area described elsewhere in the agreement, if any;
9. on an unpaved surface;
10. when the odometer has been tampered with or disconnected;
11. when it is reasonable to expect you to know that further operation of the vehicle would damage it;
12. where applicable, by anyone who lacks experience driving a vehicle equipped with manual transmission; and,
13. to transport an animal.
14. Permitting the vehicle to be operated by a person who is not an authorized driver is not allowed.
